Pasta E Fagioli Recipe
This hearty fiber-rich soup with cannellini beans is lower in sodium, fat and calories than any restaurant version because it’s made with convenient no-salt added canned tomatoes. Make it at home and add flavor with Mrs. Dash® Garlic & Herb Seasoning Blend for a healthy and comforting cold-weather meal.
Ingredients:
- 1 Tbsp (15mL) olive oil
- 1 Tbsp (15mL) Mrs. Dash® Garlic & Herb Seasoning Blend
- 1 Tbsp (15mL) Mrs. Dash® Tomato Basil Garlic Seasoning Blend
- 2 Tbsp (30mL) no salt tomato paste
- 1 15 Oz (420mL) can no-salt added plum tomatoes, chopped
- 6 cups (1.44mL) low sodium chicken broth
- 1 28 Oz (784mL) can cannellini beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 cup (240mL) small elbow pasta, uncooked
- 1/4 cup (60mL) Parmesan cheese, grated
Directions:
- In a heavy saucepan, heat olive oil over medium high heat.
- Add Mrs. Dash® Blends, tomato paste, tomatoes, chicken broth and beans. Bring to boil, reduce heat, cook for 10 minutes.
- Add pasta and cook another 10 - 15 minutes.
- Serve garnished with Parmesan cheese.
