Broccoli, Cream Cheese & Almond Tart

Calcium-rich broccoli is the star of this creamy, meatless recipe. Simply delicious and nutritious, this tart can be assembled the night before, then popped in the oven when guests arrive and it's ready to serve in 30 minutes.

Ingredients

  • 8 oz. cream cheese at room temperature
  • 1 9-inch prepared pie crust
  • ½ c. half-and-half
  • 3 finely chopped green onions
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 2 tbsp. Garlic & Herb Seasoning Blend
  • 2 tsp. slivered almonds
  • 4 c. broccoli florets
  • 2 large eggs

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  2. Bake pie shell until slightly browned, about 10 minutes.
  3. Remove from oven.
  4. Cook broccoli in boiling water until crisp-tender, about 7 minutes.
  5. Drain and rinse under cold water, pat dry.
  6. Place the pie shell on a baking sheet for easier handling.
  7. Spread broccoli evenly over the bottom of the pie shell.
  8. Beat cream cheese with Garlic & Herb Seasoning Blend and gradually add half-and-half.
  9. Beat eggs and egg yolk in a separate bowl. Add to cream cheese mixture.
  10. Stir in green onions.
  11. Carefully and slowly pour mixture over the broccoli. Do not allow to overflow.
  12. Sprinkle with almonds and bake until set and golden, about 30 minutes.
  13. Serve warm.
