Brown Rice and Barley

Healthy brown rice paired with barley, onion, garlic and Extra Spicy Seasoning Blend creates a rich, zesty side dish that goes well with the Dash™ Fish Fillet recipe.

Ingredients

  • ½ c. pearl barley
  • 1 tsp. olive oil
  • 13 c. finely chopped onion
  • 1 ½ tbsp. Extra Spicy Seasoning Blend
  • 1 minced garlic clove
  • 1 tbsp. butter
  • ½ c. dried cranberries
  • 1 c. uncooked brown rice
  • 1 ½ tbsp. fresh lime juice

Directions

  1. Cook the brown rice and barley in water for 40 minutes, according to package directions.
  2. Heat olive oil in small skillet. Add onion and garlic and sauté until tender.
  3. Combine brown rice and barley, onion mixture, lime juice, Extra Spicy Seasoning Blend, dried cranberries and butter.
  4. Serve warm.
